Iranian director Oskui’s “Calendar” joins Fajr gala
The film is to compete for a Crystal Simorgh (most prestigious Iranian cinematic award) at documentary section dubbed “Reality Eye”.
Oskui told MNA Thursday announced that outstanding works are screened at the section.
He believes that Iranian documentary cinema has made progress in recent years and the genre has been given great attention by Fajr festival as well as related organizations like Experimental and Documentary Film Center (EDFC) and Tehran Municipality.
“Young directors are busy with making good documentaries,” he added.
He referred to television producers Orod Atapur and Farshad Fereshteh-Hekmat as active figures in domestic documentary cinema.
However, there are some problems in producing and distributing documentaries which need more support and arrangements, he noted.
Oskui’s 54-minute documentary deals with three juniors at a juvenile detention center, Tehran’s Center for Correction and Rehabilitation, in Shahr-e Ziba district.
Cinematographer Ashkan Ashkani, editor Loqman Khaledi, sound recorder Farshid Faraji, composer Ali Samadpur, and assistant director Shahruz Tavakkol are some of the crew.
